The Best Beer in Madrid

It is a well-known fact that Santa Bárbara pours the best beer in Madrid. We must have learnt something over the almost 200 years that we have been selling beer. The first important decision to be made is the choice of supplier; we must have the best beer for our system to work, beer brewed using the best quality products, that has the best “secret formula” and with the most meticulous brewing process. We are highly demanding when it comes to choosing a brewer and, year after year, we choose MAHOU.

The second important factor relates to the treatment of the beer. We are not going to reveal our secret but we can say the following have an important effect: the temperature of the entire system (from barrel to glass), using just the right pressure and amount of gas, only using beer glasses for beer and always washing them by hand, and knowing the traditional beer pouring techniques. Many aspects play their role, but the most important thing is the result. Order one of our beers and see for yourself why the head is said to be creamy not frothy; and how the head leaves a mark on the glass with every sip; note the lack of bubbles and excessively bitter taste; experience its uniformity and smooth passage down the throat… It will be hard not to order another, this we know from experience.
THE CORRECT WAY TO POUR A BEER

• FIRST, WET THE GLASS TO ACHIEVE THE IDEAL TEMPERATURE

• TILT THE GLASS SLIGHTLY AND HOLD IT UNDERNEATH THE TAP. OPEN THE TAP COMPLETELY AND ALLOW THE BEER TO SLIDE DOWN THE SIDE OF THE GLASS UNTIL IT REACHES THREE CENTIMETRES FROM THE RIM

• LEAVE THE BEER TO REST FOR A FEW SECONDS UNTIL THE HEAD HAS SETTLED

• WITH THE TAP HANDLE OPEN AT 45 DEGREES, CREATE A COMPACT HEAD OF FOAM TO THE RIM OF THE GLASS

• SERVE AT BETWEEN 2º AND 4º CELSIUS FOR THE BEST RESULTS
